Exclamation Call for GPU Workers to help at the "LL Wavefront"

Announcing the "GPU to 72 Tool" version 0.5.

In order to coordinate and facilitate those who wish to help bring those exponents at the "LL Wavefront" up to a greater depth of Trial Factoring before being assigned to LL Workers, a new tool has been developed.

It is available at http://www.gpu72.com/

How it works is a spider reserves low expiring LL exponents, and then makes them available to GPU Workers to further trial factor before returning them to the PrimeNet server to be assigned to LL Workers.

An important point is the GPU Workers get the "credit" for the work they do when they manually submit the results to PrimeNet.

This system has been tested by several Workers already, and is functioning correctly.

If you have a GPU, please consider joining this sub-project.

Nice! Really nice work!

Is there any deadline for the reservations?

Thank you very much. I don't have a GPU myself (yet), but figured this could be one way I could help the GIMPS project.

I just hope enough people use it... (Hint... )

Yes. On the "Get Assignments" page it says that reservations are valid for one month, but can be extended upon request.

For those Workers who have signed up to the "GPU to 72" system, and wish to ensure their work is meaningful...

Please wait until 35 minutes after the hour for the System to Observe work done, and the reports to be updated.

Your work is being observed.

And please trust me -- your assignments are not being given to others. At least, not until you have completed your pledged work.

The system is sane.

Thank you chalsall! This is excellent and it's helping us be a lot more organized and coordinated in our GPUing efforts.

Be very, very careful about what you may find in your mailbox...it just might compute very quickly....

I'll test as soon as I (really my computers) am ready for more assignments.

I'm grabbing one assignment to put myself on the board. Looks like about 6 hours for 48M from 2^69-71 on my 8800GT. Once I've finished my current workload I'll come back and grab some more.

Thanks a lot chalsall, very useful idea!

And I thank you James...

When I asked you, you immediately pointed me to the code I needed.

Thanks to James, two reports now include GHz Days columns for completed work.

Sigh... It never fails... Try to make a single simple change, and you get the code wrong by one single character (I missed one quote) just when a customer comes by... (That's meant to be in a Scottish or New Brunswick accent.)

Please try again, and you'll see the site now links to four other sites which are important.

Last fiddled with by chalsall on 2011-11-04 at 21:44 Reason: Added "New Brunswick" to the accents. We can't understand them neither....
