So Linux then, or you can try FreeBSD (my personal favorite).

The thing in question is only a dedicated machine to run P-1 (or something P95 related.) My main computer is dual boot XP-32 and Win7-64. I suppose that my monitor actually has multiple connections, but that still leaves mouse and keyboard issues.

As I hope to just set up some old components to run with minimal attention, I was looking for some way to check up on it once in a while with what I currently have. Remote via LAN seemed like the way to go.

I'll PM you and try to see if I can't get you started.

Uh.....now I do. Did that just appear? Whatever the case, thanks for making sure. It looks very interesting in light of the recent discussions of assignments.

EDIT: The distributions graphs are going to need some study for me to fully grasp them. There are more categories in the search functions than I had conceived of existing, too.

(Looks again) Whoa! This widget actually hands out assignments!?

No, it's not new. But it is handy, if that's the kind of P-1 work you like to do. Documentation, such as it is, is here. Or just ask, of course.

I was mostly aiming this at Mr. P-1, but anyone such as petrw1 who have dedicated boxes would find it useful too. Thanks, Mr. James Heinrich.

Thanks, James, for the answer and the link.....and for the "just ask".

Actually, Dubslow, my reaction is pretty much, "Wow that's interesting! But I sure am glad that others understand the math and the system well enough, and are willing to find good stuff for me to do." I do appreciate your putting something new (to me) out there.

Actually, my last post was aimed at Mr. Heinrich, but maybe if we stop posting, we'll stop misinterpreting each other.
