You understand the concepts of economic curves crossing, correct? Please step up, or shut up. Like, seriously... I'm surprised the moderators tolerate your noise (perhaps they find you amusing; a bit like a court jester (and we all know what happens to them)). PLEASE!!! |

If you had to change your motherboard because of a new GPU card, that would mean the market for that GPU would be tiny- a 2021 GPU can be plugged in to a ~2012 machine, or even older. That's by design, and it won't be changing in the next two generations.
It's possible an upcoming GPU will require PCI 3.0, but that has been around a while. The power plugs for GPUs also have not changed in a while- as long as your power supply has the right plug, it matters not which generation the GPU is. You could plug a GeForce 3xxx or 2xxx into your current motherboard; you don't need a new computer. you might need some new fans to exhaust the heat, or a bigger power supply, but the motherboard isn't a restriction. |

I'll have the 1000W power supply to support the new machine, so the fans and heat won't be the issue again. The DDR5 memories will be nice to have because they are likely to speed up the P-1 tasks. Intel 12900K is better from this perspective which AMD Threadripper probably won't support this format until the Zen 4 edition. If I have 2 machines, 1 new and 1 old, then I can assign P-1 to old PC CPU, TF 2^73 to 2^76 to old PC GPU PRP to new PC CPU, TF 2^76 to 2^79 to new PC GPU. The size of your power supply has nothing to do with the quality of your cooling- you still need fans, and you still need to worry about heat. You're connecting two things (power supply and cooling) that have nothing to do with each other. You are also mistaken about 12900 on DDR5 being better bandwidth than Threadripper on DDR4. Two channels of DDR5 (well, four half-sized channels as 12900 has) is less bandwidth than TR's 4 channels of DDR4. If you want memory bandwidth, gotta go threadripper or Xeon. |

Also that Threadripper 5970X seemed to take forever to reach the market, has been delayed at least twice. It'll always be possible to add 2 more DDR5-5200 memory sticks with the cheaper price tag 1 or 2 years later which accumulate to 64 MB memories total. AMD Threadripper Zen 4 6970X with DDR5 memories I assume, but I'm not going to wait that long. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2021-11-10 at 23:11 |

I really don't want stick with the DRR4 3200 memories, their prestige is no longer the best. |

Wouldn't it be fun and educational to build the computer yourself?

Attached Image below: Looks like some PC parts are in shortage again, so I have to wait longer for my new PC. |
