My new board, ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe, doesn't fit my new case Chieftec UNC-110S. It is the audio ports on all ASUS's new mobos that are mounted the wrong way. Does anyone have a quick suggestion of a board that fits? Maybe an Intel mobo, following xyzzy's suggestions.
BTW, I always had the impression that Intel mobos can never be overclocked. Is that correct? At first, one could imagine they would take a viewpoint like that (since they want to sell higher clocked processors), but since there are so many other vendors supplying mobos, it would seem quite plausible that they could reconsider that idea. RE: the overclocking... I have a 2.6 P4 800FSB, and when I overclock it a touch and I let the prime number software continue, the system crashes.

Some newer Intel boards have a "burn-in" BIOS option which I think is a 5% FSB boost...
Most likely that Asus is not going to fit into a 1U case... Intel does make a 1U P4 motherboard, but it isn't cheap... You might get lucky with a 1U heatsink and low profile memory, but I think the board is just too tall... http://www.intel.com/design/servers/...d1-e/index.htm |
