I'm just curious but I'm wondering if there will be more efficient versions of GIMPS in the future similar to how a proof that doubled the thoroughput of GIMPS by eliminating double checks was published in 2020.
I don't fully understand the math and how the double checks were eliminated but I am wondering if there are any upcoming or future improvements to the software.

Would this be a good reason to do manual testing?

I am wondering what effect running my computer at high speeds continually will have on the CPU.
I recently started using a cooling pad and it lower my temperature of the CPU from about 100Celsius to 95 Celsius and I'm wondering if there's a way to improve the cooling and extend the lifetime of the CPU.

I'm just curious but are Chromebooks powerful enough to run GIMPS on them?

Is it possible to do this on a network of computers managed with Windows 10 Group Policy Editor?

I am repeatedly locked out of Mersenne Forum.
I don't know if it has to deal with Chrome's cache and using Ctrl+F5 to clear the cache or reloading the page or autocompletion but I will be given a message saying wrong password even though I very certain I used the right password (because in many cases I used direct copy and paste of the temporary password) and then it will lock me out for 15 minutes after 5 failed attempts.

Just to point out: MeresenneForum.org and Meresenne.org do not share user ID's or passwords.

Also, if you are entering your user ID on a phone, sometimes the autocomplete will add a space at the end of the word. Clearing your cache should not clear your cookies.

Depends how patient you are. Yes, you can run prime crunching software on a chromebook, or a phone, or a Raspberry Pi.

If you are willing to wait months for the computer to finish testing on a single number, sure, have at it.

If you are running on a laptop or chromebook/netbook/etc., they might not have enough cooling to keep the temp low enough when running Prime95. There are options to lessen the load. They will slow your production or alter the type of production. Tell us more about the specifics of the machine and what temps you would like to see.
