New fashion poaching (???)

Browsing the status.txt page, I realized that several exponents in the lower 7M range (hence "dangerously" close to a milestone...) have changed hands on the 28th of Jan. They came from different users, and are now most of them assigned to kiste and shaneamy. Is this a new form of poaching? Or were they reassigned by the server? If so, on what grounds?

I don't think the report can list an exponent being assigned to someone unless the server itself assigned it somehow. The people who had the exponents before probably either didn't check-in in time, or released the exponents. Or they might even have been some of the exponents George re-released, I guess.

That would be a correct assumption. I noticed in the assignment report Kiste had just checked out 3 very small ones so I nabbed up the rest (~80ish) which I estimate should like me about 30 - 40 days to complete.

Don´t get me wrong, I didn´t mean to be suspicious :). I was just curious, because it was the first time I had seen exponents that, although slow, were progressing, being sort of "manually" reassigned to someone else before the end of the expiry period (most of the exps were about 60 days from expiring). They were perhaps released by the owners, dunno.

I released exponents that had been out for 200+ days and had shown no progress. Some that met this criteria were exempted. Team_Prime_Rib runs an orphanage. Oerwin has returned results before from UNIX machines.

Let me point out that this can be a test case for the "Let George do it" method that I and other anti-poachers advocate.

I fully agree with that method, particularly if measures are taken to make sure those re-released exponents are assigned to careful owners.
