Partially. Once you get the assignment, say for sake of example: 71 to 73, you can do whatever you like with it, say extend it to 77 or 78, but you should not report intermediary results. If you report anything as done (including 72, if you got manual assignment, due to a bug which was discussed here on the forum, but I don't believe is fixed), then, from the server's point of view, the job is done, the assignment is cleared (i.e. not belonging to you anymore). In this case, the worst what can happen, is that the server will assign the exponent (from 73, or the last you reported, up to some higher bitlevel) to somebody else, and in this case you will both work the higher bits in the same time, not knowing about each-other, wasting resources and stepping on each-other toes, till one of you will report the results first. The other one who reports last will get "result not needed" error, and no credit.

I get the feeling that what is above is no longer used. I think I was getting 2^74 assignments because there was nothing available below. As I wrote before, this was not a problem.

Thank you! That is what I'll use going forward.

It takes 40 minutes for my GPU to finish a 74-75, and 80 minutes for a 75-76.

I like the fact that I'm contributing to where its needed most.

The Options being passed (I assume that configure file is for Mark's PrimeTools?) are still valid, as they are on the assignment web page (with previews).

I didn't think it worth mentioning above, but yes... For all the options if the pledge level is too low (like 72), it bumps it up to the lowest pledge available from GPU72.

MISFIT and PrimeTools really are fire-and-forget. I think there are some GPU72'ers who haven't actually looked at their crunchers for months if not years...

No, they are left over from Misfit. I have never heard of PrimeTools.

What's up with Brian V. that they're poaching assignments? 53580011 https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...3850011&full=1 which was validly assigned to me less than 24 hours ago has just been poached by them.

I've been there and dealt with this. It's very aggravating. I wonder if he grabbed this and ran it off-the-grid? No prior reservation but was happy to take the credit.

That user even tests verified results and returns a bad result : M53547997. To have an idea of that users activity : Brian V. LL results

Brian V. is single handedly doing what is proposed in the thread "The League of the Linen Coloured Balaclava-ed Gentlemen and Ladies " : poaching the tail. And when poaching one threads on toes.

Those exponents that will fail to complete before they expire are different from those that will complete before they expire. And an LL does not interfere with a TF. Any TF results are not invalidated by a DC-LL or FTC-PRP.
