Welcome to the new FermatSearch subforum.
I asked Mike to create it to have a common place to discuss about Fermat factorization, prime factors and the website, right after we hijacked the "fermat factor" thread. ![]() Everyone is free to join and add his/her 2 cents (or more, when possible) to the discussion. Range reservation will take place as it always was, preferably via email (l DOT morelli AT moreware DOT org where "l" is a "L" not capitalized) and here whenever needed. Please be my guests and enjoy the new service! Luigi ![]() |

I know much of this is at your website, but could you please provide links in this forum about how to participate with links to relevant software, reservation pages, etc?

I think Fermat primes and numbers and their related subjects are one of the more complex subjects in mathematics and one that does not generate many responses due to lack of understanding.
A while back I started a thread about the geometric aspects of Fermat primes and to this date has not generated a single reply by other members. http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=21141 It would take a great deal of layman style education and simplifying for people to get more involved. As a start I know there are formal proofs but a layman's expansion of the why there is a difference in behavior of Mersenne vs. Fermat numbers at yielding primes would be appreciated by myself. BTW I like the subject of Fermat primes. Thank you for starting the group. Last fiddled with by a1call on 2016-07-02 at 13:46 |
