many monitor output leads to one ouput screen

Hi,

I need a switch that takes as inputs, lots of monitor output leads (VGA) and has a switch which allows any of the monitors to be
the output to a single monitor connected as the one output monitor for all the inputs.

Do such switches exist?

Wouldn't a KVM switch work for this purpose?

I have a 4-port KVM.....great for reducing desktop equipment.

4 Computers.....1 Monitor, 1 Keyboard, 1 Mouse

If you do get a KVM switch, I would try to use DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort instead of VGA if possible. I've seen the additional cabling cause interference using VGA.

Agreed. Having worked with KVMs for years in server racks, I have no love for VGA in that setup. Too often the signal would degrade and the video to the monitor would be shaky at best, fuzzy and flickering at worst. And that's with expensive KVMs and high quality cables. Not to mention the clutter of cabling going on... of course it's worse when you're including PS/2 keyboard/mouse (or, gasp, XT/AT style keyboard and serial mouse ports).

It's not so bad now with HDMI + USB but good luck finding big brand servers with HDMI/DVI/DPort. But they do make KVMs like that.
