I'm running Prime95 under Wine using Ubuntu with an Intel Core2 Duo. I have one worker running on each core, however, when I shut my computer down or restart, only worker 1's progress is saved, worker 2 restarts it's exponent at 4.00% completion, I noticed this a few days ago and looked around the /prime95 directory but I dont know what's happening and why it's not functioning right. thanks for any help you can provide

Can you run Mprime instead? It will run under Linux.

replacing the necessary files hasn't helped. what would cause the results of only one worker to be written to the save file? I haven't been able to keep my computer running long enough to finish the exponent the second worker is testing so every restart puts me back at 4% complete. anybody have any suggestions?

I finally completed the exponent running in the second worker thread; it started from 4% every time i restarted my computer. but it finished after i was able to keep my computer up for seven weeks.
now that it's complete I am going to shut it down and dust it out. my assumption is that when i start Prime95 up again it will start the same exponent at 4%. I will probably have to reinstall the program. which files should i backup to replace the corresponding file in a new installation to save my progress from the first worker as well as my primenetID? |

Save:
local.txt Prime.txt Prime.spl <-if it exists Prime.log results.txt worktodo.txt And any file that starts with f, p, q, r, or m(?) and has a bunch of numbers after it. Don't install Prime95 in ProgramFiles, use the desktop or somewhere else that you choose. Make sure the directory and all files are not write protected. |

...and check under Options/Preferences "Minutes between save files"
You also have to be a version or two out of date; hit up "help/about Prime95" and tell us version and build. It's entirely possible the problem has been since resolved and all you need to do is update. |

@uncwilly i'm using Ubuntu and running Prime 95 under Wine. it creates a virtual C/Program Files directory anyway.
@Christenson. it says v25.11 build 2. this became a problem long after my last OS update/prime95 install, so i'm under the impression it's an anomaly in the program |
