I'm reserving two Sierpinski Base 16 k's: 2908 and 4885. I'll be starting the sieving on them shortly.

I am reserving Riesel base 6 and will take all k's up to n=25K. This one is not as bad as I thought it would be. I've now taken it up to n=7K with only PFGW without sieving and there are only 43 k's remaining.

I will also reserve a couple of others and take them somewhat higher:

Sierp base 11 to 100K to finish out the remainder of the sieve file. It's currently at n=87K.

Sierp base 23 to n=60K to bring it up to where Riesel base 23 is. It's currently at n=34.5K.

Sieving on both k's has finished. I took both up to about 1.2G with srsieve, then did each individually with sr1sieve. k=2908 reached double optimal depth (i.e. factors were taking twice as long to find as an LLR test) at about 121G (I would have stopped it earlier, but it was going so fast I didn't notice it in time.) k=4885 was stopped at about 207G. It was a little ways over optimal depth, not quite as far over as k=2908, but sieved very nicely nonetheless.

I've combined the two sieve files into one, and am now running LLR testing. No primes yet...but then of course, I just started.

Haliho, here is what I have at the moment:

1611*22^n+1 completed upto 100,000, I'll take it to 200,000
5128*22^n+1 completed upto 100,000, I'll take it to 200,000
4233*22^n+1 completed upto 75500, I'll take it to 100,000

4233*22^n+1 completed upto 100000, unreserving
3104*22^n-1 completed upto 100000, unreserving
3656*22^n-1 completed upto 100000, unreserving

I've sieved and run 1422*28^n-1 until 25k. No primes there.
I am starting a new sieve on 288*13^n-1, I'll take it to 100,000

I found some PCs before I could sieve so I am reserving some of Gary sieve files:

The riesel 23, the riesel 26 and the sierp 26 file

Having fun, Willem.

I'd say you're having fun! Thank you for the detailed update, Willem. n=200K for base 22 will be quite an accomplishment when you get that done!

On those sieved files, please check the testing limit on the web pages. I was thinking that I did a little more testing on one of the base 26 files since I posted those files. (Sorry if you started already) The web pages are up to date as of about 5:00 PM GMT today (11 AM CST U.S.).

Edit: I just now noticed this: You said you're sieving 288*13^n-1. I have a posted sieved file in the sieving thread for that up to n=100K. It's sieved to P=400G, which I'm thinking is far enough. If not, at least it'll save you some sieving time.

I have completed Riesel Base 6 to n=25K and am unreserving it. There are 19 k's remaining and ready to be reserved. See the web pages. With it being a smaller base, it won't be too intense of an effort to take them to n=100K.

I also got an Email from Michaf 2 days ago. On Sierp base 24, he was up to n=7.3K with 239 k's remaining and is sieving them all to n=100K. Pages are updated and k's remaining will be shown later. So we may have plenty of work coming from that.

Ah yes, I forgot to check your sieve files, I did download them. Can you put up a link to the sieve file from the reservation page? Then we would have a practical place to keep the sieve files.
I like sieving so I'll switch to another. I'll take 258*27^n-1

Laters, Willem.

OK, I can do that. There's only 1-2 left after you took most of them but I'll still do it because we'll have many in the future. Good idea.

If you like sieving, would you be willing to help me do a large sieve on Sierp base 16 for all remaining 55 k's for a team drive like is done at Riesel Prime Search (RPS)? We could split the duties sieving to n=100K. I could then divide up the file into smaller pieces like they do at RPS so that everyone can have a manageable portion of a relatively large effort.

If so, I'll post a new thread called "Conjectures 'R Us 1st team drive".

Edit: I will unreserve 288*13^n-1.

Thanks,

actually I think I'll take you up on that. I need a break from the base 4 stuff for a bit anyway. I'll do 7773 until n=100K base 16 attached is the latest dat file for my base 4

Great, we'll reserve it for you. And thanks for sharing your sieved file. I know of a person who might want to work on it for a little while. Would you be OK with that or is your break from it temporary? Since it's officially the 'Sierpinski Base 4' project, I would inform him to report it as such if he found a prime.

In the near future, I think I'm going to coordinate a team 'drive' so to speak. We will sieve all of the k's on Sierp base 16 together that haven't been already reserved. Then we can divide up the sieved file into n=~5K 'chunks' that contain all k's.

What's great about team efforts is that after we're done sieving, people can just pick up very small or very large range of the already sieved files depending on their tastes and resources and still be searching multiple k's at once. I like them because they 'spread the risk around' so to speak. Like what happened to you on base 4 Sierp, it's easy to get stuck on one k that just refuses to yield a prime.

I'll hold off just a little while on the team drive and see if others might pick up a k or two more on base 16 for themselves. I think it's important to allow people the individuality of searching a k by themselves in addition to the team efforts that allow efficient sieving and searches across many k's.

Edit: You may want to post your break from Sierp Base 4 in that thread also. Alternatively if you and Jean Penne prefer to abandon that thread and report statuses here, that works for us and saves me from having to check it occassionally. If you both agree, I'll just have Citrix lock the thread after a period of time.

Carlos (em99010pepe) asked for some sieved files that we have for the effort so that he could LLR them. I sent him Sierp base 12 and Riesel base 13 (one k on each remaining) and so am reserving them for him up to n=100K.
