Top5000 prime #2 / Sierp base 6 ready to test
We already had our 2nd top5000 prime today. It is 13438*16^98815+1. Way to go tcadigan!
In other news, Geoff has completed Sierp base 6 to n=30K and the remaining 57 k's are ready for reservation on the pages. I think I may take a poll on what base people think would be good to test for team drive #3 but I think Sierp base 6 looks like a good choice. There are not too few k's, not too many k's, not too high of a base that takes a long time to test, etc. It will be about a month before that would get started. Gary

New 'No prime left behind' project
In case you haven't seen it, come check out the new 'No prime left behind' project that is a subforum in 'Other Projects' here.
Sieved files already provided for all searches of top5000 Riesel primes for low kvalues! Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 20080121 at 21:02

Algebraic factors for Riesel base 24
Michaf astutely realized after a small amount of testing that Riesel base 24 has a partial covering set of algebraic factors for all k=m^2 that combines with a trivial factor of 5 to make a full covering set as follows:
On all even n's where k=m^2 and n=2*q, it factors to (m*24^q+1)*(m*24^q1). On all odd n's, there is simply a trivial factor of 5. Therefore, all k=m^2 are eliminated from consideration for Riesel base 24. Nicely done as usual Michaf! The algebraic factors will be reflected on the web pages shortly. Gary

I have added the LiskovetsGallot conjectures as a subproject for Conjectures 'R Us and updated the web pages accordingly.
They are shown on the web pages as 'Base 2 evenn' and 'Base 2 oddn'.

New LLRNet servers for connected machines
See Anon's thread about 2 new LLRnet servers that have been set up for CRUS.
If you have a machine that is connected to the internet for a large portion of each day, it's an excellent way to do automated LLR testing without messing with downloading or copying files. Better yet, you don't have to worry about it running out of work in the middle of the night! Gary

that's not quite correct: the client don't have to be online all the day. there's a parameter to be set for the number of test you want. the client get them from the server and make his work. when completed, the client is idle and the results will be send to the server next onlinetime and new work will be loaded.
i made a note to anon to change the anouncement. karsten

Note that I said 'a large portion of the day' not 'all day'. I suppose I could leave that off entirely since people could just have their machine on/connected for 1 hour a day if they wanted to. But I'm assuming that anyone who uses LLRNet will have their machine connected for 8+ hours. Poor assumption perhaps.

Riesel b16 drive 2 restarted; Sierp b6 this week
The Riesel base 16 team drive has restarted. Files have been posted for n=100K140K.
For Sierp base 6, sieving is progressing for all k's and should be done MondayTuesday for n=30K100K. We'll start a team drive #3 for that one around midweek. Gary

Team drive #3
Team drive #3 has started for Sierp base 6. There are 56 k's remaining at n=30K with 50 k's in the team drive. Files have been posted for n=30K70K.
Let's see what we can do with a nonpowerof2 base! Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 20080130 at 16:34
