I have downloaded the newest versions of ECM 6.1 and GMP 4.2.1
Are the instructions for compiling it under Windows still the same as in the PDF guide? I have MinGW-3.1.0-1 and MSYS-1.0.10 Do I need to upgrade to newer versions of these programs? I will be compiling GMP-ECM for a P233MMX, a P3 933MHz and a P4 2.8 GHz. |

As far as I know, both GMP 4.2.1 and GMP-ECM 6.1 will work with the same compilers as GMP 4.1 and GMP-ECM 6.0 did, so you should not have to update the MinGW system. Simply compile and install GMP and GMP-ECM from the new packages and you should be set. I haven't actually tried myself, though. If you run into problems, please let us know!

I tried it and it worked.
But I wasn't able to use the "-no-ntt" option - it doesn't get recognized. It has to be set at a parameter for ./configure, doesn't it? |

OK, I've compiled versions for my old P233MMX and the P4 2.8GHz at the
public library, and they both passed "make check" with no problems. The compiling process took 4 hours on my machine! |
