Did you hear about the DSP engineer who remodeled the entryway in her house overnight?

It was a fast foyer transform.

Haha, the best one this month! Thanks for sharing it!

(we also learned the word "foyer" here, which was not part of our known vocal-bulary )

I dunno, a little too convoluted for my taste. :)

It's never too late in life for French lessons. In English-speaking countries, whether one pronounces it "...err" or Francophone "...eyy" is a pretty reliable pretentiousness marker: "Oh dear, my auhhhnt appears to have left her vahhhse in the foyeyy ... whatever is to be done? [wrings hands theatrically]".

(Somehow imagining the sound of that last bit while typing it, an image of the late Jonathan Harris, who played Dr. Smith on the 60s Irwin-allen shlock-classic Lost In Space, popped into my head as the type of person you'd want illustrating the aforementioned pretentious pronunciation. "Danger,Will Robinson! Extreme pretentiousness detected approaching!!" Or for a female-voiced version, the late Natalie Shafer, who played Mrs. Thurston C. Howell III on Gilligan's Island.)

That observation might be applicable in American-speaking countries. I would need to take American lessons to find out. However, in English-speaking countries the word appears to be universally pronounced in the French manner and pretentiousness has nothing to do with it.

Suuuuure, in UKistan pretentiousness has nothing to do with it ... not like the Brits are at all vain about "theahh cul-chahh" or anything. ;)

Returning to the subject of Frahhhnce, its fine and ancient capital has alas been overrun by parisites.
