Default Free stuff...

I really don't know what this means, but maybe it will help someone:

Dear Developer

We have recently expanded our product offering to include additional software development products for non-commercial use. In addition to the Intel Compilers for Linux, we now offer non-commercial Linux versions of the Intel® VTune™ Performance Analyzer, Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives (Intel® IPP) and Intel® Math Kernel Libraries (Intel® MKL). As a registered non-commercial user of the Intel® Compilers, you may be familiar with the qualification criteria , however, we invite you to visit to see if you qualify for this offer and other related information about this program.

ICC should be more efficient than GCC towards Intel processors on plain C/C++ code. I'd like to know how it performs towards highly optimized assembly code...

It won't make any difference on the assembly code. I'm looking forward to using VTune.

Cool, thanks Xyzzy. I'm curious to find out what you find with VTune, George.
