Remember that your weight is consistent with your eating and exercise, so any sustainable change requires sustained changes in these - if you go back to your old eating and exercise you will, over time, go back to your old weight.

While I knew this intellectually, a got a real world demonstration after I was diagnosed with diabetes. Sugars and starches are the killers with this. I started avoiding SCRWP (Sugar, Corn, Rice, Wheat, and Potatoes), and cut back on portion sizes. I dropped 25 pounds in three months.

My diet and habits change a lot, whether I'm paying attention to them/trying to change it or not. To be honest I don't really remember my diet/habits from a year or so ago, other than the bit of exercise I did

Have you considered a simple exercise plan?

You could start out with just one repetition of just one exercise, and then add a little at a time.

We started doing push-ups a few months ago and we can now do twenty at one time. At the beginning we struggled to do just a few.

All we did was one set of push-ups a day, which takes less than a minute of time.

I guess it would be pretty easy to do some basic exercise for a minute or two a day. I'll start that and make sure to keep up with it.

So what exercise did you pick? How are you keeping track of your progress?

Just doing 10 pushups. I think every week or two I'll add more reps.

Do you have a log?

Is it hard to remember to do the exercise every day?

Is there someone you can buddy up with?

Personally, every day I walk about 1.2 km up to the gas station to read the two local newspapers.

It takes me about half an hour of walking, and two minutes of reading (there's not that much of interest printed on dead trees not already covered online).

They tolerate me because I often also buy cigarettes....

I won't be needing a log, it's a tiny bit of exercise. I probably would be more physically active if I had friends to hang out with at a gym or something, but I don't.

I wonder when printed newspapers will stop being printed. I can't see a point to their existence already, with the abundance of news services on phones and whatnot

I've been doing this little bit of exercise with one of my parents, which helps us remember to actually do it. Not much else new for this healthy stuff
