Another update on the progress to implement the new server.
On saturday i had a simmilar account available for first tests to find out
if the machine has enough performance or if i have to choose a bigger package.
(Thats the reason why there were no stats yesterday as i played with the machine the whole day. )

First tests show that the transfer of DB is no problem and that my scripts are easy adjusted to run as a cron job. There is some need for additional scripts but nothing really complicated.
LLRNET server also ran without problems. (at least for 5 hours)

Features i plan to have with the first release of the server are:

1. Stats update every hour
2. update of the reservation files with every returned file. (OK in reality also every hour)

For the future i plan to have a form to have a form where you can return your factors. ( like with SOB)
Problem is that at the moment the factrange.txt data is stored in the files and not in the database. So i have to think about a new infrastructure for that.

By the way i have a stupid php question.(I have not tested it and not looked into the manual ) So i am sure the answer is RTFM.

The question. I want to call a PHP script with some parameters like this:

php myscript.php 1,'this is a text',56.4

Is it possible to send parameter to a script like this and how can i access them from within the script.

With the new server will it be possible to post results on site, instead of emailing them to you. The server may send results to you or parse it there an then?

What do you think?

Let the tests begin.

I have managet to set up the server.

If you want to see if llrnet is working make the following:

Create a new copy of the llrnet client!!!!!
In the llr-clientconfig change the following:
server="www.beta.psp-project.de"
port=12994
username="whatever you want"

The webpages are available under:

www.beta.psp-project.de

Stats should be updated every 15 minutes.
User creation is automatic. ( I hope )

If to many of you start to test it is possible that we run out of work for a maximum of 15 minutes. This is intentional to check if my new work sheduler runs as expected.

Please report your findings.

One more thing.

Many thanks to Bryan from rieselsieve who helped me over the last two days to get the llrnet server up together with mysql

First update on the beta test.

The llrnet server runs without any problems so far.
Thanks to Dagger for putting some load on the machine.
If there two or three others who could spare a machine for a day or two it would be nice if you put it on the beta server.

Web access is stable enough so the content of www.ldausch.de is also available on:

www.psp-project.de

Please use that page from now on to look at the stats.
Let me know if there is something wrong. ( I hope all links work as they should)
In case that there are problems with the new server all data is still available on the old server.

The llrnet switch and activation of the php scripts will be done when i am completely happy with the beta test. (And have written some extra scripts to reduce the database load on the server)
So PSP stats stay with daily updates.

A last update for today.

First and most important:

Many thanks to the beta testers: Brucifer, Dagger and Thommy3

Tests run much better then expected.
The beta testers give a load to the machine that is significant higher then the load we have on the "normal" llrnet server and also on the DB.

So far no problem on llrnet ( here i did not expect any problems)
No problems from the server system itself.
No problems from my scripts. ( Here i really expected some errors)

If the system stays stable until tomorrow evening i think we can finish the beta test then.
The beta test site will stay online with web scripts and llrnet server.
I will use it to test future modifications like a new style for the stats pages.

When everything goes well the final switchover will take place next weekend.

I keep you informed.

Lars
