72.5M - 72823000 is uploading now (as I noticed with a typo in the filename, sorry.)

I will upload 71M - 72.5M and 87M-88M tomorrow in the late evening.

Edit: I got a "connection terminated at remote host" when I was halfway through the upload. Trying again.

Edit2: Second try succeedet.

71 - 72,5M is uploaded (with some overlap with the 72.5-72.8M range).
87-88M is currently uploading. (edit: upload complete.)

I got my estimates wrong; sieving to 90M wasn't quite enough to generate a matrix. I'm sieving 12.5 to 15 with J15, and would appreciate some more sieving above the 90 mark.

This means I won't have results before I'm back from Ukraine at the start of May.

How many more relations did Msieve want?

What is your new estimate of the needed upper limit of Q?

I don't know how many more relations will be needed - I'd be tempted to run 90-95 and see if things get better. I think it'll only need a few (the last message was something like '24000000 relations and 24200000 large ideals'), but oversieving is not harmful.

Hmmm... As far as I know (I sometimes "undersieved" small GNFS and SNFS jobs to get an idea of how many relations are needed), when msieve fails to build the matrix it says something like "filtering wants xxxxxxx more relations" just when it stops the filtering step and wants to start the matrix job. This message can also be found near the end of the msieve.log file.

Yes, msieve gives this number; however, it's not based on modelling of the duplicate-removal or singleton-removal processes, so it's a measure of the number of extra relations that would be needed if you were able to add new ones at that step in the pipeline. I've not found it at all useful for estimating the number of actual input relations required.

The models I have for duplicate removal (N_{duplicates removed} proportional to N_{input relations}^2) and for large ideals both said that I'd have lots of excess by this point and would be ready to start a matrix job, so I need better models.
