Srsieve is very inefficient other than to get started. Peter, there are instructions in the "come join us" thread for running srsieve/sr2sieve. Sr2sieve can be a little tricky if you've never used it before. But once you've used it a couple of times, it's real easy.

I have corrected my above post. The sieving removal rate for testing the range of n=2500 (or 1000) to 25000 should be in the ~30-60 second range depending on the base; not 2 seconds, regardless of whether it is srsieve or sr2sieve. A removal rate of 2 seconds would be well undersieved.

For the initiated, this is because a test at the 50-60% of such an n-range, i.e. n=13K-14K, will take 30-60 seconds.

Don't forget that the size of the base also has an impact. Smaller bases take less time for PRP tests than larger bases for the same n. For example, at about b=400, a PRP test at n=25000 would take 2 minutes, but for b=900 at n=25000 would take about 4 minutes on the same computer. Note that those are estimates.

just to clarify:
There was only one mistake in the untested Sierp page. All other Sierp/Riesel bases are really untested. But its always good to check the reservations page before you start a new base.

I'm very sorry but the servers and web pages were out for 10 hours today. See here for an explanation. Everything is back up now.

Greetings from TheCount! I am interested in trying something new. Been crunching on Primegrid for a while and only getting more interested in finding out about Prime finding. I currently have 2 primes in the top 5000.

Can I use PRPNet client 5.2.4 with server=G1400:100:1:noprimeleftbehind.net:1400 to get started with CRUS?

On http://noprimeleftbehind.net:1400/pending_tests.html you can see that the Age + Expires times on the assignments add up to 72 hours (for the port 1400 server).

Has anyone a starter sample how to run a new CRUS base with pfgw (prefer llr)? Iam really interested in, later perhaps on a BOINC project if I can understand all the things which I needed.
