Thanks, I'll be sure to continue to stay away from Perl PAR. works for me. Price is not awful.
On the Python front, attempts to compile gpuowl via various approaches have yielded from 10.3 up to 31.2MB executable compressible down to 8+MB. Up to 15-20 seconds start time to get a "Hello!" program run. I have 1 or 2 more approaches to try yet.
