This is a poem I wrote in 1988 to help keep me motivated:

The fundamental currency is time.

Of this, we are given an allowance,
which may be revoked without notice.

It may be traded for other forms of currency.
Simply enjoyed.
Squandered.

It may not be saved…
I sometimes also get "down"; feel like I'm not being optimal.

Find a driving problem which interests you. Write some software; volunteer to teach young kids things they wouldn't ordinarily be exposed to; garden.

I'm currently working on a book (it probably won't sell a single copy, but the exercise is not easy and thus valuable).

At the end of the day we're all dead. IMO, what matters most is what we can do which will be beneficial and can be passed on.

I hope that makes sense.
