I'm going to dig out the 1969 paper Jean refers to in his
posting on the maths of LLR. Does anyone know if this
paper or any others looks at the possibilities for bases
other than two? I'm doing some work with k*3^n+-1
where such things might be useful.
I not optimistic that it's the same theorem, since I believe this to be unique. Although I'm sure you're aware that PFGW, is used to test any base b.

It's good to hear you're working on k*3^n+-1, which I was very curious about as well, since it is the next step of a further generalization.
Keep us up to date, about your primes! And good luck hunting.
