With the same PC I increased B1 from .8M to 1.1M and decreased RAM from 24GB to 12GB.
I had a similar success rate 5.35% vs 5.41%.
The run time was longer: Stage 1 took about 15% longer as...

Great welcome...reserved ranges are in post #1 of this thread.
But yes 8.7M is free and yours.

If you have a good PC with decent RAM (16G?) TF is probably not necessary (but can't hurt) in this...

We also need some direction on how RAM affects this project.
To get comparable results there is some agreement that we give a rule of thumb for how to adjust the recommended B1 based on the RAM....

Ok, I'll give it some thought....but there are others more qualified for this.

Some cyphering for 1 possible scenario.

The following is completely negotiable.

If, just as an example, we choose B1=1M as the preferred minimum for exponent 20M with a RAM allocation of 16GB;
and using George's "every time you double...

My PC with 24.5G of RAM would have a B2 multiplier or about 500 for that range.

With an expected success rate of 1% TF can be finicky. I've had runs of NF over 600 long and I've had consecutive...

When I took the first count 2017/07/24 I chose 59.9M as the top end.
There were 497 ranges to go and 55,228 factors required.

To date we've cleared 85.3% of the ranges and 92.75% of the factors.

How can we be sure to avoid exponents where PRP testing has shown the remaining factor is Probably Prime?

Or it could be a hybrid as in focus the deep P1 on ranges over 199 togo first.
