Yeah isn’t that called a multiplicative inverse? (Or am I confusing things) the number x such that ax ≡ 1 (mod n)

P.S. Here's code people at the OEIS wrote in a few different languages:
(MATLAB) function a = A354971( max_n )
a = [1 0]; c = zeros(1, max_n); c(1:2) = [1 1];
for n = 3:max_n
m =...

"Back to the Future" Sequence

I admittedly posted this in the lounge and didn't get too much engagement, so I thought I'd try here. I recently proposed the following sequence to the OEIS (it’s still being reviewed). I wonder if...

Hm, I guess there’s no agreeing on aesthetics. To me, that’s what makes it difficult and interesting. Recaman’s sequence is also based on a recurrence relation. Anyway, like they say, “if you don’t...

Hi Matt, Thanks for the encouragement, am curious to know your comment about the p+44 series.
It would be awesome if we had a subforum for number series. And maybe another one for visualizations of...

Back to the Future Sequence

I recently proposed the following sequence to the OEIS (it’s still being reviewed). I wonder if any of you have any ideas/insights into it. It goes like this: a(1)=1, a(2)=0; for n > 2, a(n) is the...

The idea is very cool. Forgive me, but I have zero knowledge of coding. Could you explain to me (like I'm four) where in the code I type in the input number? I've been trying to do so on this online...

Oh, got it now. It's been true for every number I've tried in the pattern. Also not sure how to prove it. Squares and primes seem to be the building blocks, but different squares and primes will act...

That's really interesting! I had imagined that every number would end in a loop (of course who knows maybe this one does eventually). The post of @henryzz using powers of prime seemed to at least...

#of divisors Series

I've been playing around with the following (potentially interesting) series:
You take a number (let's take 32 for example) and find how many divisors it has (32 has 6 divisors). If the number of...

What I meant is that 3 isn't an odd square. So you wouldn't flip it (you'd flip 9 though). Also, how could it be a constant if sometimes the number of flips goes up, sometimes it goes down...

Ok so for 12 let's say. But 3, 3*2 etc. in your example isn't an odd square... Anyway, that gives me:
110100011000 (because I'll always be flipping position 1,2,4,8,9,16 etc.)
Ok so from the...

You're right, makes sense to me now. So to summarize:
Counting forward to get a 1: any square number times a power of 2 (including 2^0)
Counting from the back to get a 1: any square number times 2...

Post Variation on Locker Student Problem

Hello all,
You might have heard of a problem involving 100 students and 100 lockers (if not, doesn't matter). I've been thinking about a variation of this problem: For some number of lockers,...
