I looked for the primes satisfying your equation and for the following primes p (2^p-1)*(2^(p-1))+1 is prime or probable prime:

p in {2,3,13,19,271,601,4729,34039}

Tested up to p=67261

For n°3, IF x and y are integer and > 0
x+y = 1994
or
x+y = 2990

x says no => x < 1994
y says no => y < 1994; y>996
x says no => x < 998; x>996
=> x = 997
y = 997
