I was just about to get onto the system yesterday and fix that one in particular so it wouldn't expire yet, but I saw it had already been done.

All done - updates these days seem to take a bit longer than in the past, so I'll have to adjust my estimates upwards by a few minutes I'm sure.

Maintenance: 2022-01-15 @ 1800 UTC

You may have seen the news about the critical Microsoft patch this month, so we're going to do a patching cycle for that in about 30 minutes from now (6 PM UTC / 10 AM US pacific, 1 PM US eastern,...

Is the suggestion that we should unreserve those exponents?

I can see they have 10,828 TF assignments, all but 3 of which were assigned on the 22nd.

They also have 4,809 ECM assignments, all...

LOL - normally I don't give myself 45 minutes so I thought I was being generous, but nope... this time it's just taking longer. Go figure.

I'm about to bring it back online to start the next patch...

Server Maintenance

Good evening (or morning) everyone.

We're going to be applying patches to the server tonight. The tentative plan is:
2021-12-22 @ 02:00 (UTC)

Buggy hardware... consider that LL tests have historically had a ~2% error rate, it's reasonable to expect other work types would have errors that missed things. TF and P-1 included.

People have...

That's generally true, if by "most common" you mean the bad residues with the highest counts.

However, most bad results simply have a totally wrong (and random-ish) residue, so they don't...

Yeah, I don't have any hard and fast rules on how many future milestones I add in there. If the # of exponents left to check is relatively small, I'll go ahead and include it, but otherwise I figure...

The last time I did an analysis of good/bad to get the ratio, it was something like 3-5% ... it was a long while ago so my memory may indeed be very fuzzy.

Let's say it's 5%, so one in 20 tests...

That's great. Thanks for trying it out and confirming.

Hopefully we can get someone else with this issue to give it a try, just for a double-check. We all like doublechecks here.

Possible fix, with just some registry keys added?

I was reading more about this issue with Framework 4.0 apps and TLS 1.2 support.

That's a great test. I'd suggest that .NET 4.5 be targeted, if this were rolled up into a new compiled build. Reason being, most people are (probably?) going to have 4.5 installed on their Win10...

That would be unfortunate. On the server side, I could re-enable at least TLS 1.1 (definitely not 1.0 though) and it would require a server reboot.

Ideally someone familiar with misfit and its...
