Hi Swellman,
it would be interesting to know the reason why msieve -nc2 was canceled so often.

I can't see why the msieve started -nc3 without the dependency file.

This job took months to run. I periodically stopped it to do maintenance, occasionally out of fear of power or data loss due to local storms, and sometimes to run other work.

I’m not certain what you are asking. To restart msieve after I had interrupted its work, I just used the invocation

I believe the default TD for msieve is currently 90 but it may have changed recently.

15e seems to be spitting out a lot of junk relations lately, for reasons unknown.

I say no - most/all of the interesting information is contained in the log files already. Just my two cents.

The data point not in the log file that remdups provides, and I think is useful to others / future, is uniques vs raw relations. I post that data on almost every factor report.

For instance, an intrepid data-gatherer might look at unique % of raw relations to try to see what the optimal starting Q value is; lower Q sieve faster but yield more duplicate rels.

Dimension data is not useful, IMO.

Raw vs unique relations is contained in the msieve logs.

If folks want to include the remdups4 log, go ahead.

A good point. I personally almost never use remdups, I just let msieve do its thing.

Bottom line: raw vs uniques is nice data to have.

If you run msieve filtering more than once (say, with different target densities, or after more rels have come in), then removing duplicates once with remdups instead of every time msieve runs is a clear win.

If the jobs you run happen with msieve running just once, it's not clear remdups saves any time but I do it anyway.
