50 replies

This is just (another) silly idea to see how long it takes to get 50 unique members to post to a thread.

The rules:

Post an interesting math snippet, using the forum's math rendering engine.
Watch the thread.
Profit!
You may only post once in this thread. If you post a second time it will be deleted.

$$B_m=\sum_{k=0}^m\sum_{v=0}^k(-1)^v {k \choose v} \frac{v^m}{k+1}$$

Note: \binom doesn't work in your renderer!

IMO, this thread should be deleted.

One of my favorites, 5 mathematical constants in one equation:

$$\blue\fs5 e^{(\pi*i)}\:+\:1\:=\:0$$

And since that one is already taken, I've seen funny t-shirts like:

$$\green\fs5 \int_{10}^{13} 2x\,dx$$

$$\red\fs5 \int \frac{1}{cabin}\,dcabin = \log cabin$$

Or, here's a dangerous one:

$$\blue\fs5 2^{\aleph_0} = \aleph_1$$

$$\left|\pi-\frac{355}{113}\right|<10^{-6}$$

Because there's no place for silliness in this world? Excellent point there. Allow me to not invite you out for drinks anytime soon

$$y(x) = (ax +b)^2 - n$$
Post an interesting math snippet, using the forum's math rendering engine.
Note to others: This only works if you allow JS. I don't got any of that JS stuff so ...

a=b
a^2=ab
a^2-b^2=ab-b^2
(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)
a+b=b
2b=b
2=1

Actually, you can still use the rendering engine; just enclose the text to be rendered in $$ tags. That's all the little JS button does anyway. :smile: Heck, I rarely use the buttons anyway even though I have JS enabled. As an example, here's your little snippet rendered with the rendering engine, without the help of any JS buttons. :wink: [tex]a=b$$
$$a^2=ab$$
$$a^2-b^2=ab-b^2$$
$$(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)$$
$$a+b=b$$
$$2b=b$$
$$2b=b$$
$$2=1$$

One thing to note is that it seems you need to enclose each individual line of a multi-line selection, or else everything gets run together as one line.

I endorse this sentiment. It gives me a reason to be cheerful
for living at the end of Buckinghamshire opposite to the Chilterns.

It only just occurred to me that the largest signed 32bit integer
is a famous Mersenne prime.

$$Cheers!$$
