OTOH it did enable one to gauge the progress by seeing earlier
posts.

The milestone I would like to monitor is the countdown to
the status of exponents below (say) 55M not being unknown.

PS The LL wavefront is struggling to reach 51M.

There are now 46 dc exponents remaining less than 22M.
I will also start counting down first time LLs less than 30M. There are currently 59.

You are referring to "assigned" exponents.
My enthusiasm for following this would be increased if you
could find out why anyone is testing the 6 below 21M
or why the 200 or so below 37M are described as first time
tests.

This is readily available on the primenet summary page.

@ UncWilly: this is all there on the milestones page.
As I've said before, the interest is to be derived from
the rate of change of the countdowns. Since this is more
or less exactly the same for M42 to M47, there is a sort of
redundancy generated by the freakish number of primes discovered
in the last few years.

FWIW countdown to proving M42 is M42 was 41,605 on 29th July.

PS I don't think "milestones" were placed by the roadside randomly.

There are now 43 dc exponents remaining less than 22M.
LLs less than 30M is increasing somehow so I won't continue recording that.
Regression line still says mid 2012.

No, there remain less than that to be tested.
Actually, at the time of writing these lines, there are 35 exponents less than 22M remaining to be DCed. You were counting the [U]assigned[/U] ones.
And there are no first time LLs remaining under 30M. The ones assigned will be finished (or not...) as DChecks.
