It turns out that the "prime" 455*2^1560160-1 that Sashixi found was not prime.

After not being able to get a hold of him, I submitted it to the top-5000 site and it came back as composite. In the future, I will doublecheck any prime that this user finds.

Dave, can you remove this "prime" from the database? Thanks.

That would be a good feature for the prpnet server to automatically check primes. It is probably the same issue that used to give me some false primes and others for GIMPS. It took a bios update for my pc to become stable.

Thanks - maybe this is the biggest prime for NPLB so far ? Thank you for reminding me to report it. The chances for me to remember it by my self was less than 1/(333*2^2785626-1).

Over the last few months I have periodically been putting my machines on either port 2000 or port 9000 to keep them barely into the top-5000 range. It looks like I need to do that again for port 2000. I'll probably move some machines over next week.

I'd welcome a big hitter or two on either port for awhile. :smile:

I'm putting everything I have on ports 2000 and 9000 and that is barely keeping us in the top-5000. PrimeGrid's February rally is making it tough. All primes in February on those two ports have been and will likely be place > 4980.

If anyone would like to add some cores to those ports that would be really helpful. :-)

Thank you for reporting that quickly! Had that been my prime I would not have gotten it reported in time.

PrimeGrid is in the "Mountain stage" of their rally, which is only on Feb. 19th UTC. They are finding a crazy number of small primes barely larger than ours so theirs are on the list not much longer than ours. We will see if we can survive it with only about 3.5 hours to go as of this posting. Hopefully they will go back to their more normal number of rally primes after today.

I have asked Dmitry if he would add some cores. He has on port 9000 so I have moved some of my machines to port 2000 to attempt to keep both ports above water. Many thanks to Dmitry and of course to you, Tim, for sticking with it! :-)

I've found 525*2^1671068-1 recently, but it is a bit too small for Top5000 list :confused:

The above prime would have been 5001st place on the top-5000 when it first came across port 9000 and missed 5000th place by < 20 digits at the time. :-(

PrimeGrid found 29 top-5000 primes in a single day during their Mountain Stage causing us to barely miss. I've never seen anything like that. Fortunately a large majority of them entered at > 4985th place and will drop off quickly. With that stage ending at midnight UTC (~5.5 hours prior to this post) I believe we will be able to work our way back into the top-5000 over the next 1-3 days.

Extremely bad luck that these primes are coming out now.

The 2nd one, once again, would have been 5001st place and missed it by < 20 digits. :-(

We had dropped to nearly 100 digits below top-5000 but have nearly caught back up. Keep chugging! :-)
