Feel free to read the thread before posting to it.
To be fair, that's not a simple task. This thread has 881 posts (including this one). That takes some time... OTOH, it is doable in one long reading session. |
To be fair, that's not a simple task.
Meh. Read the seminal threads for the creation of the major GPU applications' development. Some of those are nearly 3000 or 3500 posts each. Take notes with urls for later reference. Reread about annually in the first few years of GPU computing.

You might be addicted to GIMPS if you have a Dewey Decimal system for this forum... |

"There is always something worse, than what one is complaining about." - slight paraphrase on the second part of this: "Nothing is ever so good that it can not be better, but nothing is ever so bad that it can not be worse." To complete the truth table - "Nothing is ever so good that it can not be worse, but nothing is ever so bad that it can not be better." One of these four is a Slovak saying, but I'm no longer sure which one because I think all four of them are equally valid, and thus I think of them as being inseparable. To the post -> Yes, that's even longer reading. But I've intentionally written: "OTOH, it is doable in one long reading session." |

OTOH, it is doable in one long reading session.
Thank you. I was well ****ed off when I read the comment from Uncwilly. I thought the thread was suppose to be a bit of fun. There are of course umpteen references to the number of computers people own, the amount of heat generated, and the electricity cost. There's another about grow house, and this being detected by the electricity company. Well here, when people take over somewhere and grow weed, then normally fiddle the electric, so that's often hard to detect. Thermal imaging detects the heat, even if the metered electricity is low. I thought the comment was rather personal. I think had anyone else written the exact same words, nothing would have been said. Several things went through my mind after reading the comment from Uncwilly,

pkill -9 mprime and leave this project.
Finish exponents I'm doing (I submitted two earlier today, and a third will finish in 15 minutes), then leave.
PM Uncwilly and ask why was the comment made. It seemed rather childish.
Eventually I decided to ignore the comment, and carry on.
|
Several things went through my mind after reading the comment from <anyone> ...
If you want to let one post from one person discourage you then that's your choice of course. But I'd say don't let others control your actions. Do what you want to do.
And I don't have any moral high ground here either. I also have posted repeat stuff and been called out for it. Such is life, we can't all be perfect. Life still goes on. |
... if LL and PRP tests become as easy as this:
def LL(p): x = 4 for i in range(1, p-1): x = pow(x, 2, 2**p - 1) - 2 return x PRP = lambda p: pow(3, 2**p - 2, 2**p - 1)
|
You just might be addicted to GIMPS
(or just plain desperate) if you are the lead supporter of QA and Cat 0 but you are also the only one to systematically taste the box of chocolates (test the predictions) in the "Predict M52" thread (even the predictions of the ones in your ignore list) because you never know what you're gonna get even if you are against numerology. And you just might be totally addicted to GIMPS if
you have a finger in every pie (post).
I friend of mine introduced me to Rollin' Wild yesterday. Finally had a chance to view this evening.
I had never heard of this team before, but their output is quite amusing. A particularly liked The Chase, Rollin' France, and The Waterhole. Apparently, they did the initial videos over a single session at a conference. Just to prove it was possible. The seems to be inspired by the joke "This theory assumes all cows are spherical... |
