I pulled down a complete update on 10/21. I noticed a couple of sequences appear to have regressed. Unless I made a mistake last time, which is possible, there may have been some loss of data. Can you check your status and make sure I didn't make any mistakes this time? Or maybe Syd's power outage caused a couple of problems.

Thanks.....

Greebley 2010-10-24 13:50

I corrected several loss of data issues when the new database first went up. However, a bunch did require aliqueit to be run.

Basically, a term factored by aliqueit was treated as prime by the old database. Therefore the factorization wasn't even in the old db and if aliqueit was run again even on one term, the later sequence would be found.

I did submit earlier versions of the old db to the new to make sure work before the bug made it back in, and looked at a bunch of seq that looked like they might be wrong.

Chances are decent though that some were missed. If you know sequences should be longer, then it is possible even a short run or set of runs of aliqueit might refind them since most factorizations still exist.

It might be worth listing them and we can see if we can regenerate them.

There were a couple that didn't line up with the last time I pulled a list. I figure that those were probably a result of the power outage that Syd reported over in the factorDB thread....
What makes you always (i.e. at every update) think that sequence 10212 is at 150 digits?
Well now, that is a very good question. I'll have to see what my program is retieving. The raw output is this line:
10212 2369. sz 150 2 * 3 * 58693
What it does is pull the elf file and then check the size of the composite on the last line. Apparently something is being reported peculiarly just for 10212....

[Edit] Check that....it looks like something throwing off the size calulation on everything. I'll have to investigate further. Thanks for catching that.

schickel 2010-10-30 07:50
What makes you always (i.e. at every update) think that sequence 10212 is at 150 digits?
'Cause I made a rookie mistake the last time I twiddled with the program. After Syd changed the interface, I moved some statements around. Net result: I was taking the position of the '.' in the last line, padding the line, then taking everything from the unpadded position of the '.' to the '=' for the length of the compostite. So I had an 'off by x, x from 2-4' error, depending on the index of the sequence.....

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Sorry, I'll recompile and pull a correct update, but probably not until after work tomorrow.

All sequences below 100000 should already be at 110 digits (Subprojects #4 and #6, along with Clifford Stern's ongoing work). If they are below 110 digits in the DB, then check Clifford's five.txt file - those sequences below 110 digits are probably a result of Clifford not having put them in the DB yet.

No, a week ago there were 6 sequences <100K that were at < 110 digits.

We waited how long for others who had reserved 250K-500K to get them all in the DB to 100 digits? Something like over a year? Finally some people here stepped in and worked them themselves because they were tired of waiting and subsequently termined several sequences. That's what I'm doing here. We are now searching all n=100K-150K to 110 digits so it seems appropriate that n<100K be at 110 digits also.

In the mean time, I'm releasing the first batch of 3: 49692, 56196, and 60452, because I have completed them to >= 110 digits:

49692; i=1401; sz 110; C102; 2*3
56196; i=1249; sz 113; C111; 2^3*3^2
60452; i=766; sz 110; C101; 2*3

I started 56196 from a size of just 102 digits. All have had a full set of ECM curves run on them.

Reserving 233502 for Clifford.

PS. I'll try and post an update on statuses later this week.....

If nobody is working on 620328 I'll reserve it.
Reserving 7221764.
Is this a typo? I don't see why you would want to reserve a sequence above 1000000 with 92 digits that has the 2^2 * 7 driver.

gd_barnes 2011-01-04 04:55

Releasing 76014 and 97164. They are now at >= 110 digits. Status:

76014; i=1092; sz 117; C99; 2^6*3
97164; i=2037; sz 110; C109; 2^2*7

I'm still working on 99312. To the best of my knowledge, it is the only remaining sequence <120K that is at < 110 digits.

That is reserved by rodac who hasn't been on the forum since February... I think that one's probably fine.

I wonder what happened....there were only ~20 lines added from where he apparently left off. And reviewing his posts shows he posted exclusively in the Aliquot forum.....very strange.
Next I'll take 20076, 259704, 643760 and 800010.
Oops....Clifford just emailed me this morning and included that one in his message. The "good" news is that he got a downdriver capture at 112 digits.....

I'll have to ask him for a more complete list of what he's working on. (He pokes around at lots of various sequences looking for ones with a chance of getting a favorable mutation....)

A full set of curves has been run on the C105.

As far as I know, all sequences n<120K are now at >= 110 digits.
