[b]schickel[/b] escaped 2^3 * 3 very quickly after acquiring it at 93 digits on 88662. The sequence then picked up a downdriver at 98 digits, but this was lost at 96 digits. From there, a 2^x * 3 guide type pushed it up to 109 digits, where it is guided by 2^8 * 7. [b]unconnected[/b] escaped the 2^4 * 31 driver at 130 digits on 102000, breaking the record for that driver of 129 digits. :bow wave: The sequence is now stable at 130 digits. [b]Batalov[/b] acquired the downdriver at 108 digits on 199224. Sadly, the run only dropped the size to 100 digits, and the 2^2 * 7 driver was acquired at the same height, with one line below 100 digits. There has not been an escape so far. [b]Greebley[/b]'s downdriver run on 232956 lasted until 100 digits, but the 2^4 * 31 driver took over and has driven the sequence to 112 digits. :sad: [b]henryzz[/b] escaped the 2^3 * 3 * 5 driver at 106 digits on 236448. The sequence is now guided by 2^4 * 3^2 * 7. [b]KriZp[/b] acquired the downdriver at 104 digits on 239778, and this run took the sequence down to 78 digits. The 2^3 * 3 driver was eventually acquired, but it disappeared recently at 103 digits, so let's hope there's more to come! :smile: Sadly, we have no active downdriver runs here in the main project. :cry: |

It's starting to look like it won't matter shortly where he is actually at, since, with the resources we currently have, it wouldn't take that long to duplicate his work.....I actually didn't think there would be this much interest in the project. I am glad to see Wolfgang back online, since his page was among the first I found when I started working on sequences. |

[b]Greebley[/b] acquired the downdriver on 14472 at 101 digits, line 1044. This brought the sequence down to 71 digits, and the downdriver was soon reacquired, dropping the sequence all the way to 25 digits. Unfortunately, the 2^2 * 7 driver appeared at 64 digits, shortly after an escape from 2^6 * 127, and it has driven the sequence back up to 101 digits at line 2039. :sad::cry: [b]Batalov[/b] acquired the downdriver in 218292 at 107 digits, while simultaneously losing a 3. The run finished at 97 digits and the 2^5 * 7 guide was acquired, but the downdriver was picked up again at 110 digits, and is our only active downdriver run. :smile: [b]Batalov[/b] also escaped the 2^3 * 3 driver at 107 digits in 223692. The sequence is now unstable but driverless at 120 digits. I am guessing the reason for the slight reduction in activity down here is the subproject. Not that I'm criticising it: I helped create it :smile: |

Was trying to get 699000 to 80 digits and next time I looked it was up to 98. Consider it reserved - I will take to 100 at least.

Releasing 10824 and 14022.
Reserving 18102, 19128, 19278, 19680, and 40404. It didn't take me long to find a sequence that most definitely will top 280686 as the longest ever-increasing sequence: 19278 above. 280686 made it to i=946 with a size of 109 before I abandoned it with a hard C102. 19278 is already at i=944 and has a size of only 100. After dropping a factor of 5 at i=935 and then again at i=937, it is increasing VERY slowly with no other small factors then 2*3 right now. It is only up a grand total of 20% in the last 7 indexes. Like 280686, it has never let go of 2*3 but has much more rarely picked up higher powers of 2 and 3 before dropping them fairly quickly. This should be interesting. Actually, it would be more interesting if would get to i=1000, then drop the factor of 3, and then terminate. :-) |

In other news: I'm now releasing 108408. It got all the way up to a size of 121 before hitting a hard C>=100 factor. There are many factors on that rapidly increasing sequence. |

[B]gd_barnes[/B] escaped the 2 * 3 driver at 100 digits in 15390, and the future of the sequence is currently in the balance with 2^2 * 3. [B]Batalov[/B] had a great run on 81882, adding over 2000 more lines. The downdriver was acquired for the first time at 103 digits, line 1303. It and the following downdriver helped drop the sequence down to 44 digits. The sequence then dropped below 60 digits another two times after peaks at 80 and 93 digits. An escape from 2^6 * 127 at 96 digits was followed by the apparition of the 2^3 * 5 guide, which has taken the sequence to 114 digits, line 3318. [B]Batalov[/B]'s downdriver run on 218292 did not amount to much - only a 2^3 * 3 driver. :sad: But there is a chance of escape this line :smile: [B]Andi_HB[/B] escaped the 2^2 * 7 driver directly to the downdriver on 250452 at 105 digits. The two downdriver runs that followed brought the sequence down to 62 digits. Sadly the 2^2 * 7 driver was acquired, driving the sequence back to 106 digits. [B]Batalov[/B] has a very good record for long sequences, and 556276 is a good example - this sequence is now at line 6640. But of course Super Serge's main achievement this week was 552150 joining the elite 7000-line club of which only 3 single sequences are members. The latest downdriver run has left the sequence stable at line 7145, size 101, so could Batalov's own record with 195528 be under threat? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [B]IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please could you check the list to see if there are sequences on it which you have not worked on for ages and should have officially retired. "Over 80" project for the database is finished.
... and done with 902724 which picked up 2^2*7 and went over 80 digits.
I also updated a few indices of 900054 to get that above 80 too. At this point every open ended sequence in the db is 80 digits or over (or reserved, but none of the ones under 80 were at this time) for numbers under 1 million. Additionally any sequence known to merge or terminate under 1 million is complete in the db. |
Releasing 19278.
This is another great sequence that I'm sure someone will want to pick up. See more info. about it in the "class records" thread. It is now only guided by 2^3 with no factor of 3 so is very interesting. It set the record for longest ever-increasing run within a sequence at 1048 indexes before finally losing the factor of 3 and dropping. It regained it, increased for a while, and then dropped it again. It has now gone down for the last 9 indexes with guides of either 2^2 or 2^3 and is currently at i=1069 with a hard C105. Good luck to anyone who reserves this interesting sequence! :smile: |

The c120 has had ecm recommended by aliqueit run on it without success and so would need gnfs. I wonder if there is a way to indicate this status in the db? I can see me retiring sequences in general when a large c fails ecm and stopping there. Could we make them a different color if they are known to fail ecm on the summary page? |

i could do that with a color of the Cxxx-entry of such seq, (just have a look at the summary right now, here pink). but there're reasons why not to do so: - updating is more timeconsuming, i have to check the db with this Cxx - if there is nothing in the db (like yours now) i need the info - when i'm unreserving a seq, the last Cxx i've tested with aliqueit upto the limit of all suggested ECM, so only ggnfs is needed with aliqueit -> perhaps this should be standard! so: unreserve a seq with say 120 digits height but not with a C79 left! |
I don't think we need to bother Karsten with listing that as well as everything else, especially when it's so easy to look if you're considering running the sequence.
If you used all default settings, aliqueit.exe would run, for a c120, (curves@B1) 74@11000, 214@50000, 430@250000, 904@1000000, and 1222@3000000 (2350*2.6/5=1222). |
I don't always finish the ecm. If it passes some hours of it I abort it a bit early on occasion.
Do agree that looking it up is too much work. I would only color it when someone specifically mentions its status here (either as all ecm vs less than all). If its not colored its status is either given in the db or unknown. But if you prefer, I can store do the storing based on the number (probably just the last set though). |

59232 244140 250824 305454 392430 472500 473502 646296 750372 763476 842592 892440 From my perspective, this is an exciting effort. Some (but not all) of these are the highest index sequences with some of the lowest remaining factors as shown on [URL="http://factorization.ath.cx/search.php?so=1&se=1&2=1&1=1&5=1&3=1&start=2&limit=100&len=1"]this page[/URL] in the D.B. The listing can be obtained by going to "sequence overview" in the D.B. and clicking on "length". Nothing else needs to be done. 392430 has already been extended over 630 indexes from where I started to i=~5380, which has moved it from 24th to 13th place on the listing. 842592 has already been extended over 2000 indexes from where I started to i=~6180, which has moved it from 55th to 7th place on the listing! 842592 is definitely the wildest sequence that I have personally encountered. ...picking off more "low hanging fruit". There's plenty to go around. Let's use the above listing and see if we can get our first 10000-index sequence! :smile: A couple of quirks about the listing: 1. It does not show sequences > 100M. This is apparent if you change "start" to 9999999 and then click on length. It only has 22 sequences listed with a length longer than 1 (that is sequences 10M-100M), which is clearly incorrect since I've done many larger ones (namely powers of 10) to 70 or 80 digits when I was playing around with the sequences a while back. 2. The length is only "counted" until it merges with another or lower sequence. This makes sense because otherwise, in effect, multiple sequences would be counted as one. Gary |

Out of curiosity, I just ran the .elf file as created by the DB for sequences 517392 and 518568 through aliqueit.exe to see what the errors were. I found that there were no errors. Am I missing something?

Currently, I think one can fix any sequence with errors, so there shouldn't be any errors anymore. The 'repair sequence' allows you to fix.

Yeah, I figured that but thought I'd point it out to the admins here so that they remove it from the 1st post here. There is a strange quirk that I've observed with the repair. If your sequence merges with other sequence(s), you have to repair the lowest sequence that it merges with. It won't let you repair your higher sequence. This was very consistent across multiple squared-line bugs that I encountered when doing very large sequences (i.e. > 10^20). I was able to repair them all but had to choose the lowest sequence in which they merged with to do so. Previously I thought there was a bug in the "repair sequence" link. lol |
