Of course. if the targets had been armed they could have defended themselves...
This has been among the canonical responses to previous massacres, but it is so obviously inapt for this one, I assumed you were being sarcastic.

The thought occurred to me, "well, now we've had a demonstration of what these "bump stock" kits are really for."

It has been reported that, in addition to the guns, ammo, and ammonium nitrate, Our Hero had a fair amount of Tannerite in his car. This is (according to online sources) a couple of powders (oxidizers and aluminum powder) which, when mixed, become an explosive which can be detonated by high-powered rifle fire.

His sense of irony is well known, at least to me. I was seeing him and raising. :smile:
EDIT: If they were going to shoot back, best take out a couple of floors on that side of the hotel, just to make sure.

Everything after the '.php' can be deleted and still arrive at the same address.

The argument seems to be that if only everyone were armed then no one would dare do anything "bad". So everyone should be allowed to have their own personal tactical nuclear weapons at their command. Don't like your neighbour? Then just vaporise his house and family. Problem solved. Don't like the barking dogs in your neighbourhood? Then just erase the entire neighbourhood from existence. Problem solved. Nothing could possibly go wrong.

I don't know, but I devoutly hope that those still are legally out of bounds. However, in this part of the world, I rather suspect that there is a selection of parties in possession of such devices.

I don't think so. I've heard news stories of people falling afoul of "dangerous ordnance" laws in several states. [google google]

According to the OHIO REVISED CODE,
[...]
Title XXIX. Crimes - Procedure
Chapter 2923. Conspiracy, Attempt, and Complicity; Weapons Control; Weapons Control

[...]

(K) "Dangerous ordnance" means any of the following, except as provided in division (L) of this section:

(1) Any automatic or sawed-off firearm, zipgun, or ballistic knife;

(2) Any explosive device or incendiary device;

(3) Nitroglycerin, nitrocellulose, nitrostarch, PETN, cyclonite, TNT, picric acid, and other high explosives; amatol, tritonal, tetrytol, pentolite, pecretol, cyclotol, and other high explosive compositions; plastic explosives; dynamite, blasting gelatin, gelatin dynamite, sensitized ammonium nitrate, liquid-oxygen blasting explosives, blasting powder, and other blasting agents; and any other explosive substance having sufficient brisance or power to be particularly suitable for use as a military explosive, or for use in mining, quarrying, excavating, or demolitions;

(4) Any firearm, rocket launcher, mortar, artillery piece, grenade, mine, bomb, torpedo, or similar weapon, designed and manufactured for military purposes, and the ammunition for that weapon;

(5) Any firearm muffler or silencer;

(6) Any combination of parts that is intended by the owner for use in converting any firearm or other device into a dangerous ordnance.

[...]

2923.17. Unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance; illegally manufacturing or processing explosives

(A) No person shall knowingly acquire, have, carry, or use any dangerous ordnance.

[...]

(D) Whoever violates division (A) of this section is guilty of unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance, a felony of the fifth degree.
[....]
I note that this is a lower degree felony offense even than falsifying the paperwork for a gun purchase, which is a fourth degree felony.

I also note that, earlier this year, the US House passed a bill whose stated purpose was to make it easier for "mentally incompetent" veterans to buy guns. (I did not determine whether this bill ever became law).

Also, Congress is currently considering a bill whose purpose is to make it easier to buy silencers (listed as "dangerous ordnance" in the above-quoted statute).

This reminds me of an episode of the old TV series The Avengers. (Google google) Ahh -- here it is! Murdersville -- a town where assassins run amok. There's a scene near the beginning where a killer goes after his victim in a library. He pulls out a pistol. The librarian points to the sign that says SILENCE. In response, the killer fits a silencer to his pistol, draws a bead, and shoots his victim dead.

The slaughter in Las Vegas seems to have dampened enthusiasm for the silencer bill.

Well, at least the massacre is good for somebody -- the gun companies! Gun company stock went up after the massacre -- as it always does after these things...

Me? Oh, no-no-no, I'm not a racist...

Jeffrey Whitman, the owner of Uriah's Heating and Cooling in Powell, Ohio, had a minor traffic dispute with Charles Lovett. He thought Lovett had cut him off. Whitman was obviously not in a hurry to be anywhere, though, because he followed Lovett almost two miles to his house, with results Lovett had the presence of mind to record as cell phone video and post to YouTube. WARNING! WARNING! N-bombs galore!

See also the news story.

The video went viral, and Whitman's business apparently has suffered. The poor fella just can't understand the intensity of hatred directed at himself. He says he grew up using the word, it's no big deal.

If his detractors are taking it out on the guy's mother and daughter as he claims, though, they really need to stop doing that.
